For fear of sounding pompous, or like I am bragging, I have not said anything publicly about this…BUUUUUT tumblr is more of a safe place than fb in my opinion, so I shall share. Two days after The Cherry Orchard closed, I was called into Michael’s (the head of the acting department and my director) office. Of course I thought I was in some kind of trouble…. Why? I do not know. I was wrong. He told me that I had been nominated for an Irene Ryan award for my performance as Varya. That means, next February I will be taking a little trip to Oklahoma to compete (representing TX state) at ACTF with our region of the nation. Then, if we advance from there, I have a chance at going to Washington DC to perform at the Kennedy Center. I made going to DC a goal of mine Freshman year, when I first heard of the competition. Now I have a true blue shot at acheiving my goal. TX state has taken first the last 2 years in a row, we aren’t about to break that run. I am going to work my ass off to get to DC, and maybe play Lady Anne in the meantime. I’m rarely proud of myself, RARELY, believe me. But at this point, I am content. :)
